"Well that escalated quickly..." Fresh48 with the Hursts

I've known Ashley in passing for several years now, so when she asked me if I would do an arrival session for her and Jon's team green baby, whom I kept insisting was a girl, I of course accepted without hesitation!

Ashley kept me up to date with how her last few weeks of pregnancy were going, how baby was doing, and how she was feeling. So, when she let me know that baby Hurst was still breech at 38 weeks, I was a little bit nervous for her, to say the least. I knew she wanted to experience labor instead of going in on a scheduled day.

I waited patiently for her baby-date of May 3. And, on April 29, I was put on a 30-day facebook ban. (yeah. I know. I promise it wasn't anything crazy or controversial. It was a video of me comforting my two-year-old daughter and it was marked by algorithms as sexually explicit! Insane!) Anyway. Tuesday morning came along, and I was about to start mowing my lawn when I got a message from Ashley (on facebook, of course, so I couldn't respond), going something like "We had the baby! It was crazy! SHE'S here and she's a cutie!"
Listen, I could barely contain my squealing. I love new babies, and I LOVE IT EVEN MORE WHEN I PREDICT THE SEX OF THE BABY.
So, yeah, boasting here, because I was right ;)

Anyway, I got ahold of Ashley through texts and not on Facebook, after an embarrassing call up to maternity where I word-vomited to a nurse who I assumed was Ashley...I mean, she was Ashley...she just wasn't the Ashley I was looking for. That's a story for another time.

I set up to get to the hospital for 11:20 the next morning (Wednesday) where I could NOT wait to hear this birth story!

Y'all ready for this? She went into labor at 4am. Didn't know for sure if it was labor, and then she finally realized it was labor about 8am. Headed to the hospital. Y'all. SHE GOT THERE FULLY DILATED WITH A BREECH BABY. I cannot even. Incredible. "Well, that escalated quickly."
Anyway, they prepped her real fast and got her into the OR stat, where she still had to make sure that baby didn't pop right out. Now we know that Ashley is a trooper, and if she ever decides to have another little squish, that she sure as heck is the perfect candidate for a VBAC.

Now, on to the most important part.
Introducing, Riley! This squishy cheeked little girl is the sweetest little bundle and I was so thrilled to be able to snuggle her for a few minutes. And look at all of that HAIR!

Needless to say, mama and daddy are smitten with her and cannot take their eyes off of their precious chubby-cheeked miniature human.

Congratulations, Hurst family!
